Biography
Jacqueline Enkelaar-Ashdown is an educator, writer and art-oriented practitioner based in Verona, Italy. Her work brings together language, visual expression and storytelling, exploring creativity as a space for reflection, communication and personal transformation. With more than twenty-five years of experience in education, she has worked in international and intercultural contexts, including schools, private institutions and community-based learning environments. Her background as an English teacher has shaped a practice attentive to communication, identity and the subtle ways people express themselves across languages and cultures. Jacqueline is also the author of Bianca, a bilingual English-Italian children's book that reflects her interest in narrative as a space of imagination, empathy and discovery. Her practice connects pedagogical experience with creative research, opening a dialogue between education, care and artistic expression. Since December 2025, she has been attending a course in Art Therapy at the University of Verona, deepening her research into the therapeutic potential of creative processes. Within the gallery context, her profile stands at the intersection of education, storytelling and art therapy, presenting creativity not only as expression, but also as a form of listening, relation and care.
Artist statement
Jacqueline's practice approaches creativity as a meeting point between education, storytelling and art therapy, where making images becomes a way to listen, connect and give form to lived experience.
